Investment Plan and Water Allocation

In collaboration with a group of national experts for the Authority recommend a water allocation plan for proposed projects for the investment in accordance with previous studies of the Authority, the Agricultural Master Plan, Water Management Plan and the technical and economic feasibility study for Jabel Gharbi and the areas along the two branches of the conveyance system for 2.5 million m3 of good quality water with total annual quantity of 912.5 million m3 of water . 67.3 % of it will be allocated for agriculture use to supply an area 104,233 Ha. In addition to the investment of an area of (2000) hectares in Grarat Alqataf through the local underground water in the area so that the total invested by the Authority becomes (106,233) hectares, represented in the following:-

1.     Jefara Plain Region :

A-    Existing Projects.

B-    New Projects.

2.   Coastal Area severely affected by water shortage: Highly affected by water shortage leading to disturbance of water balance and endangered by sea water intrusion.

3.     Jabel Gharbi Region : Support to private property lands.

4.     Area along the Conveyance System :

A-    Existing Projects.

B-    New Projects.

All social, economic and technical aspects were taken into consideration on water allocation. The following table illustrates investment projects and their water needs.
