Study of Jabel Al Gharbi Region

Technical work teams working for the Authority have made numerous site visits and inspection of JabelGharbi region from Rheibat at the west to Sidi Al-Saed at the coast, in order to pin point some locations suitable for investment in accordance to technical and economic principles on which locations are elected. These site inspection trips covered the private property and other existing agricultural projects located therein. Due to hard topographical features of this region, and inspired by this site inspection visits that private farms are relatively small and dependent on rain fed farming.

It is decided to provide these private property units with their needs of MMR waters as complementary irrigation. By construction of farming water tanks all over the region from Ghariyan to Al Rheibat, which will provide settlers to carry their needs of water by their own means to support their rain fed plantations and to water their animals.

For this purpose, a study was conducted for layout and design of 44 Reservoirs 18 of which are 500 m3 in capacity. And 26 of them are 1000 m3 and one regulation Tank at Al Rheibat capacity of which is 27,000 m3. and one break pressure tank of 13,000 m3. AtEriyaina. Distribution of these tanks is based on population density in these locations.
