New Projects

Tarhouna Agricultural Project:-

This project lies south of Tarhouna on both sides of  TarhounaBeneWalid main road on the central branchof the Hasawna – Jefara water System with a total area of 1,239 Ha. irrigated area is 950 Ha. This project is supplied from eastern branch a specified turn out at a maximum rate of 33,000 m3/day. The project consists of 33,000 m3 break pressure tank close to the turn out from where the water is pumped out through a pumping station to a 6,000 m3regulating concrete tank. It covers the supply and distributes net work as follows:

-    700 meter long ductile supply pipe line from turn out to the break pressure tank with 700 mm. diameter.

-    85 m long ductile pipe connecting the pumping station to the (BPT) with 800 mm diameter.

-  4,654 meter long ductile supply pipe line to pump water to the regulating tank 6000 m3 at an elevated level with 600 mm diameter.

-  55 km’s long distribution network varies in size from 90 to 400 mm. to feed the 200 m3 farm tanks provided at the entrance of each farm by gravity.

Abu Aisha Agricultural Project:-

This is one of the new projects in the Jefara Plain region, situated 60 km’s south of Tripoli. Along the road from Qasr bin Ghashier to Tarhouna, Total area of project is 4,700 Ha. irrigated area is 3,320 Ha. Include 664 farms with 5 Ha. each supplied from a specified turn out on the Tarhouna – Abu Zayan Conveyance System with a Flow Rate of 80,000 m3/day.

This project contains the following components:

-   40,000 m3 covered concrete operation tank.

-   2,900 m long supply pipe line from the Turn Out to the tank with 1,000 mm diameter of ductile pipe.

-   39 km’s long Main distribution network of ductile pipe of diameter from 415 to 1,400 mm.

-   273 km’s long Secondary distribution network of UPVC pipe of diameter from 90 to 350 mm.

Wadi Tagmoot Agricultural Project:-

It is a new project situated on the middle branch of the system at 10 Km from Tarhuona project in the south eastern direction and 90 Km from Tripoli city with a total area of 1200 hectares and irrigated area of 700 hectares.

The project is supplied with its water needs from a supply outlet on the middle path with a daily flow rate of 20,000 m3/day. The project consists of operational iron tanks of 2000 m3 capacity and a transport line from supply outlet to the tank 2750 m long and 700 mm diameter using GRP pipes in addition to distribution lines from the tank to fields with diameters of 300-- 400 -- 700 mm.

Suf Aljeen Agricultural Project

The propjet is located at 65 Km east of BaniWalid city and about 35 Km from the middle branch of Hasawna- Jefara system. The total area of the project is 2000 hectares including 1760 hectare irrigated area distributed to 24 circular fields, 78 hectares each using center pivot irrigation system with water requirements of 95,000 m3/day.

The project includes:

-    Break pressure tank of 6500 m3/day capacity.

-   A main transport line 37 Km long made of reinforced fiberglass (GRP) with diameters of 800-900-1000 mm.

-  Sub distribution network within the project covering 24 fields of GRP pipes and diameters from 300 to 900 mm.

Grarat Alqataf Agricultural Project

The project lies in Garara region at about 150 Km south east of BaniWalid city and 2 Km from Manasir village. 5800 hectare area was investigated for soil and 2000 hectares of which are nominated to be used agriculturally because it contain the best agricultural soil at that region.

The general agricultural plan recommends to use local underground drinking water. The water coming from artisan wells is hot with a temperature of 49.5 degree centigrade. Its temperature should be decreased to the limits allowable for agricultural use as well as using center pivot irrigation equipment with a special kind of sprinlers (I-web) which reduces temperature of water to limit suitable for agriculture under sprinkler irrigation system.
