Existing Projects
Since it was established, the Authority has undertaken drawing targets, setting plans and programs to attain them to invest the water of Hasawna system and handle agricultural projects executed during agricultural development period and rehabilitating them. These projects include:
Tummina – Al KrareemProject:
This is of the existing projects total area is 9,156 Ha. Irrigated area is 2,844 Ha. Divided into 898 farms with 2 to 26 Ha. Project shall be supplied from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 70,000 m3 per day. Components of the project:
Components of the project:
1. Transport pipeline made of ductile steel from the feeding outlet to the tank ( 17 km) long and 800 mm diameter .
2. Concrete tank with capacity of 40,000 m3.
3. Main distribution network ( 93 km ) long with diameter (400-1000 mm) made of ductile steel pipes.
4. Subsidiary distribution network ( 78 km ) long, with diameter ( 100-350 mm ) , made of UPVC pipes.
Project includes two locations:
A- Tummina Project: 
Located 12 km’s east of Misurata, total area is 7,238 Ha. Irrigated area is 2,420 Ha. Divided into 775 farms of 2 to 26 Ha. each. Project shall be supplied with MMR water from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 70,000 m3 per day ( connected with Al Krareem Project).
B- Al- KrareemProject:
Located 30 km’s south east of Misurata distance 30KM, total area is 1,918 Ha. Irrigated area is 424 Ha. Divided into 123 farms of 12 Ha.each. Project shall be supplied with MMR waters from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 70,000 m3 per day ( connected with Tummina Project ).
Daphnia – Naima Project:
The existing project covers a total area of 13,896 Ha. of which 2,352 Ha. will be irrigated area divided into 503 farms with 6 to 30 Ha. each Project is supplied from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 50,000 m3 per day.
Components of the project:
1- Main transport pipeline from the feeding outlet to break pressure tank, made of reinforced fiberglass ( GRP ) ( 6.3 km ) long, with diameter (800 mm).
2- Concrete tank for break pressure with capacity of ( 27,000 m3).
3- Transport pipeline from tank to distribution network (8.6 km ) long and (1200 mm) diameter , made of ductile steel pipe.
4- Subsidiary distribution network (115,404km) and diameter (150-700mm) ,made of ductile steel pipes.
Project includes two locations:
A- Daphnia Project :
Located 25 km’s west of Misurata, total area is 13,620 Ha. Irrigated area is 2,118 Ha. divided into 457 farms varies in area from 6 to 30 Ha. Project supplied with MMR waters from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 50,000 m3 per day ( connected with Naima Project).
B- Naima Project :
Located 15 km’s east of Zlieten, total area is 276 Ha. Irrigated area is 234 Ha. divided into 46 farms of 5 Ha. each . Project supplied with MMR waters from a Turn Out at the Eastern Branch with Flow Rate of 50,000 m3 per day (connected with Daphnia Project).
Garhabuli Agricultural Project:-
This is one of existing agricultural projects in Jefara plain area, south east of Tripoli on the eastern branch of Hasawna – Jefara water system of the MMR. The total area of the project amounts to 26577 hectares. Its irrigated area is 3520 hectares. It contains 1233 farms and three patterns of farms (6-10-12) hectares. It is fed by three outlets on the eastern path of Hasawna-Jefarasystem.with a rate of flow for each area respectively 34000 m3/day , 42000m3/day , 41000m3/day and it includes in its design, the following:-
1. Main ductile transporting pipelines 13.903 Km long and 800 mm diameter. For first outlet, it extends from the main supply outlet to balance (equilibrium) tank. For the second and third supply outlets, from supply outlet to pumping stations.
2. Nos. 2 pumping stations, one at the second area and the other in the third area with operation capacity of 487 liter/second and 475 liter/second respectively.
3. Nos. 2 receiving tanks annexed to the two pumping stations of the project, 20,000 cubic meter/day each
4. Transport lines from pumping stations to equilibrium tanks for second and third areas of ductile pipes 7.987 Km long and 700 mm diameter.
5. Nos. 3 equilibrium tanks; 20,000 cubic meter/day each
6. Main distribution systems extending from equilibrium tanks to supply points through ductile pipes 292.597 Km long and of diameters ranging from 125 to 1000 mm.
7. Sub distribution systems extending from supply points to farms through UPVC pipes 216.576 Km long and diameters from 63 to 225 mm.
Expansion of Garhabuli Project in Sidi El-SaehRegion :-
The project aims to supply 264 farms with the MMR water in Sidi El-Saeh region with an area totaling about 1500 hectares, irrigated area of 918 hectares. It is supplied through supply outlet on the eastern branch of the system with a daily flow rate of 36,776 cubic meter through a main line of ductile iron (D1) 6 Km long and 600 mm diameter. Internal distribution networks of farms are supplied from the main line through supply (feed) outlets 54 Km long in UPVC pipes with diameters from 63 to 315 mm.
BirTirfas Agricultural Project :-
This project is within the Jefara Plain Existing Projects. It is located 15 km’s south of Zawia along the road leading to Bir Al Ghanam. Total area of project is 7,095 Ha. irrigated area of which is 2,365 Ha. Originally this project contains 473 farms of 15 Ha. each Project is supplied from Turn Out along Tripoli – BirTirfas Conveyance System .Flow Rate of 30,603 m3 per day. Project also comprises an 18 km’s long Conveyance System diameter is 1,600 mm. There is also a 41,000 m3 Break Pressure Tank. In addition to the possibility of using the existing tanks.
Wadi Al HayAgriculturalProject :-
Wadi Al Hay project is within the Jefara Plain Existing Projects. It is located 90 km’s south west of Tripoli. Total area of project is 12,000 Ha. irrigated area is 3504 Ha. Main project consisted of 417 farms of 25 Ha. project also comprises a 22km’s pipe line of 1,600 to 2,200 mm diameter with the possibility to use the existing tanks. And will be feed the project through Tarhouna – Abu-Zayan Conveyance flow rate 60,000 m3 per day.
Abu Shieba Settlement Project:-
One of the existing settlement projects at the Jefara Plain region. It is located at the central branch of the Conveyance System, precisely south of the road leading between Azizia and Bir Al Ghanam. Total area of project is 1,000 Ha. irrigated area is 693 Ha. This project comprises 100 farms of 10 Ha. each . Project is supplied from a combined Turn Out with Abu-Shieba Productive Project, along Tarhouna-Abu Zayan Conveyance System. Flow Rate of 39,591 m3 per day. A basic-study is currently underway to supply the project with waters from the Eastern Branch of the MMR . Project also comprises a 10,000 m3 Break Pressure Tank, connected with Abu-Sheba Productive project.There is also a 1.6 km’s long Conveyance System from the Break Pressure Tank to the project existing tanks. Diameters vary from 1600-2200 mm. and a direct 4 km’s long 500 mm diameter Conveyance System from the tank to the higher borders of the project.
Abu Shieba Productive Project :-
Abu Shieba Productive Project is one of the existing Productive Projects at the Jefara Plain region . It is located at the central branch of the Conveyance System, precisely south of the road leading between Azizia and Bir Al-Ghanam. Total area of project is 1,358 Ha. irrigated area is 1,158 Ha. Divided into 21 production units, area of each is 55 Ha. Project is supplied from a combined Turn Out with Abu-Shieba Settlement Project, along Tarhouna- Abu Zayan Conveyance System. Flow Rate of 39,591 m3 per day. A basic study is currently underway to supply the project with waters from the Eastern Branch of the MMR. Project also comprises a 10,000 m3 Break Pressure Tank, connected with Abu-Sheba Settlement Project. There is also a 1600-2200 mm diameter Conveyance System from the Break Pressure Tank to the project existing tanks. A direct 4 km’s long 500 mm diameter Conveyance System from the tank to the elevated area of the project.
Al-Hira Agricultural Project :-
Al-Hira Agricultural Project is situated 20 km’s south of Azizya. It is located 60 km’s south of Tripoli It is one of the existing projects. Total area of project is 5,610 Ha. irrigated area is 2,679 Ha. This project contains 484 farms of 4 Ha. and 10 Ha. farms. Project is supplied from combined Turn Out with Wadi Al-Mjenin along Tarhouna – Abu Zayan Conveyance System. Flow Rate of 69,891 m3 per day. Project also comprises a 5 km’s long Conveyance System diameter is 1,600 mm. Devoted for the Third and Fourth Phases of the project. There is also a 50,000 m3 Break Pressure Tank. .
Wadi Al-MjeninAgricultural Project :-
This is an existing project situated at the Jefara Plain region . It is located 60 km’s south of Tripoli. Total area of project is 1,800 Ha. irrigated area is 360 Ha. divided into 72 farms each of 25 Ha. 5ha of which is irrigated. Project is supplied from a combined Turn Out with Wadi Al-Hira project, along Tarhouna- Abu Zayan Conveyance system. Flow Rate of 10,109 m3 per day. Project also comprises a 2.7 km’s long Conveyance System diameter of which is 600 mm. There is also a 50,000 m3 Break Pressure Tank in combination with Wadi Al Hira agriculture project.
